'A Scandal in Bohemia' which first aired on 24 April 1984.
I believe there were forty-one episodes with Jeremy Brett, but only five of them were feature length. He stared in 2 only. Both were TV Movies and classed as such. The Sign of Four (TV Movie) 1987 and The Hound of the Baskervilles (TV Movie) 1988. All others were part of the TV series with some being "extended editons"
Sherlock & Holmes
Sherlock Holmes' hair is raven black. This is its color in most physical appearances throughout the years, including all drawings (the traditional sketches being by Sidney Paget) and television shows such as Granada's version of the stories (starring Jeremy Brett as Holmes and David Burke/Edward Hardwicke as Watson). Only in the animated series called Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century was it a different color; that was blonde.
Holmes first appeared in Conan Doyle's A Study in Scarlet,
it's the first Sherlock Holmes story where Watson meets Holmes.

It was Doctor Watson that assisted Sherlock Holmes. He is also his flatmate. He is the first person narrator of all but four stories in the Sherlock Holmes canon.
A Study in Scarlet is the first one followed by: The Sign of Four The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes The Hound of the Baskervilles The Return of Sherlock Holmes The Valley of Fear His Last Bow The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes
No, he did not. They asked me to improve on the previous answer. So, I thought I'd leave it and post this below. The above answer is completely incorrect. I saw the episode. It's the very first in the series... a special that was not included in the DVD boxed set - for reasons I do not know. You have to have been a fan of the show in the 80's or have watched it on PBS in the 90's to have seen it. But he most certainly did not fail to make the very first story in the series introducing the characters. Jeremy Brett WAS Sherlock Holmes. May he Rest in Peace.
