The first line of defense in the immune system is the skin. Other important components of your immune system are the white blood cells, or Leukocytes; and the ability to produce antibodies. The most important would depend on what type of infecting agent you're exposed to at the time.

What is the difference between the first and second line of defense in the immune system?

The difference between the first and second line of defence is that the first line of defence is your physical barrier like your skin and it protects you from most pathogens entering your body and the sweat and oil on your skin prevent some pathogens from growing on your body. the second line of defence is when a pathogen makes it past the first line of defence your body can mount an immune response to the attack and destroy the invader. Whether or not the response succeeds depends very much on your body's ability to distinguish between cells that belong to it and cells that do not.

IgE bind to mast and basophil cells 4.Release chemical mediatorsThe antibodies attach to the antigens (invader) and inactivate them (killing).

What systems are affected by the common cold?

The hundreds of different viruses responsible for causing a common cold all make their attack on the human body in the upper respiratory tract. The virus particles attach to the cells of the mucous tissue in sinuses, nose, mouth, eyes, throat and trachea first. The bronchial tubes and lungs also can be affected. In addition to the respiratory system and eyes, the immune system is triggered to work to rid your body of the invader with an immune response, which will employ resources from the circulatory system and blood forming organs.
