No one knows how many will ultimately be made, with Poptropica branching off into books, merchandise, and DS games.

In June of 2009 there were only 9 islands.

By March, 2011 there were 18 islands, and the island map got a bit crowded.

The new version of the map has 6 to 8 games per section, to accommodate the 35 active games as of the end of 2013.

At any given time, the number of players on Poptropica is in the range of 50,000 to 200,000 - according to estimates by website tracking. The total number of individual players in June, 2009, was estimated at 1.2 million, and the number of characters created to date was 120 million. (It is assumed that many players have created more than one and as many as several characters, if only to play the age-dependent ad games.)
