There were actually 150 knights that sat at his table. Some of them are Pellinore, Tristan, Percival, Bors, Gawain, Lancelot, Galahad, Ector, Lionel, Gaheris, Agravane, Gareth, Rheynold, Kay, Matthias and Lamorack. That is just a portion of the knights.
Siege = Sieges. Ex. In the Mandalorian Wars, the Mandalorians staged sieges in three separate Sectors of Republic Space simultaneously. (In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic)
The Siege of Malta (also known as the Great Siege of Malta) took place in 1565 when the Ottoman Empire invaded the island, then held by the Knights Hospitaller (also known as the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, Knights of Malta, Knights of Rhodes, and Chevaliers of Malta)The Knights won the siege, one of the bloodiest and most fiercely contested in history, and one which became one of the most celebrated events in sixteenth century Europe. Voltaire said, "Nothing is more well known than the siege of Malta," and it unquestionably put an end to the European perception of Ottoman invincibility and marked a new phase in Spanish domination of the Mediterranean.[1] The siege was the climax of an escalating contest between a Christian alliance and the Ottoman Empire for control of the Mediterranean, a contest that included Turkish corsair Turgut Reis's attack on Malta in 1551, and the Turks' utter destruction of an allied Christian fleet at the Battle of Djerba in 1560.
He was the Grail Knight, the only knight able to sit in the Siege Perilous, a seat at the Round Table where only one knight could sit or they would die. He was pure, courageous, chivalrous, courteous, gentle and kind. He was the son of Elaine of Corbenic and Lancelot, and was the only Knight able to drink from the Holy Grail, the cup that Jesus supposedly drank from at the Last Supper.
A siege is a military action. During much of the Middle Ages, military actions were mostly decided by cavalry, with knights fighting on horseback. Castles and walled cities made it impossible for knights to have the advantage they had in the open fields. An assault on a fortified structure required special equipment, which had to be made at the site. An alternative to an assault was the siege. The siege consisted of surrounding the city or castle and letting no one in or out, thus cutting the defenders off from food supplies. Sieges did not always work for a variety of reasons, one of which was that they took a long time and were expensive to maintain. Sometimes, armies friendly to the people in the city surrounded the besieging army and cut them off from their own supplies. If a siege did not end in a victory within several months, it probably would not work. There is a link below to an article on sieges. I don't think it has a good section for the medieval, but for what it is worth, it is there.
