The slave trade has never ceased to be. Its existence has been thousands of years, thus you could say modern slave trade is not very modern at all. The first signs of a slave trading empire was the Arabs and they still are involved with slavery to this day, but nowadays modern slave trading has probably been the biggest in places of South America, especially Brazil.
