The answer depends on the whether you are measuring the value of sales of the quantity of sales. In the latter case, it depends on whether it is a discrete variable of continuous.

Value of sales: Currency format.

Discrete quantity (eg number of cars sold): Integer number.

Continuous quanity (eg amount of fabric sold): Decimal Number.

In all three cases you will need to use a sensible number significant figures. There is not much sense in presenting sales worth millions to 2 decimal places!

divide the first number by the second number This is not correct... It has to be at least a 40% increase in sales? Help WRONG (second # - first #) / (first #) isn't it ---- (2nd - 1st) / (1st) and result multiplied by 100 . It will be 64% growth. Yes that is correct. (2nd-1st) divided by 1st then multiplied by 100. It would be 64.4%.

How do you calculate sales per person hour?

Calculate the number of person hours worked. This will be the average number of hours worked by staff over some appropriate period (a week, month, year) multiplied by the number of staff.Divide the total sales over the same period by this number and you have the sales per person hour. You need to consider, though, whether you want to look only at those people involved in sales activity or also other staff: their salaries are being paid for from the sales, after all.Calculate the number of person hours worked.
