The cold side of any wire is the side that doesn't receive any power when the switck is in its normal position. When the switch is pressed then the wire would become live or as they say, hot! This means that the wire has 12volts positive passing though it. Now if you are looking for the brake light signal then you would need to locate the cold side of that system. Keep in mind that you may have to turn the accessory or ignition on if the brake switch indicates no power or hot side without the key in on position. Good luck! Bandalerro
