The Visigoths were a group of people in the time of Charlemagne; members of a branch of the Goth people. The Visigoths invaded the Roman Empire between the 3rd and 5th centuries AD. They ruled what is now Spain until 711, when they were defeated and overruled by the Moors.
Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortez conquered the Aztec civilization that occupied what is now Mexico. This conquest yielded for Spain a large piece of territory in the New World, and gave Spain access to large quantities of gold and silver. Cortez helped Spain get a jump on other European nations that would soon be in North America.
The name Mongol specifies one or several ethnic groups, now mainly located in Mongolia, China, and Russia. The Mongol Empire (, Mongolyn Ezent Güren or , Ikh Mongol Uls) was an empire from the 13th and 14th century spanning from Eastern Europe across Asia. It emerged from the unification of Mongol and Turkic tribes in modern day Mongolia, and grew through invasions, after Genghis Khan had been proclaimed ruler of all Mongols in 1206.
