For example, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, as a Crown corporation, is able to enhance the amount of Canadian-only programs broadcast, thereby promoting Canadian heritage and culture. The Government of Canada (which is responsible to the elected representatives of the House of Commons) is able to employ these Crown corporations to ensure a degree of control over the achievement of our national business targets that would not exist were those Crown corporations to be privatized. So, the privatization of these Crown corporations would hinder that control.
