Kepler (Penn Foster page 1 through page 5) Kepler is the only scientists not mentioned in this section.
This is not true. It was NOT Alfred Wegener. Wegener discovered that the continents moved. He didn't know how or why in 1915 and in 1960 (30 years after he died) Scientists discovered that there must be some sort of force behind Wegener's theory. When they discovered the Asthenosphere and the convention currents in the the Asthenosphere it was quite a shock, even more surprising, when they discovered that the magnetic north pole seemingly wandered all over the place. This meant either the north pole was moving or the continents were moving and since the north pole is put, the continents moved. In 1960 during World War II a bunch of seismometers were installed to monitor nuclear testing. The scientists were completely interested in the fact that all the earthquakes, volcanoes and such were following one another, showing distinct belts which were in fact the tectonic plates. For the most part I don't know who EXACTLY discovered the plates but I would just say the seismometers. :P Lol, I just got that all out in a rush. XD
