The three branches of government are the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. The Legislative branch's job is to make laws for the U.S. The Executive branches job is to enforce laws made by Congress. And the Judicial branch's job is to look at laws and actions taken by the U.S. and see if they are Constitutional (don't go against the Constitution).
The Legislative branch has the power to make laws. The Executive branch is responsible for the execution for those laws and the Judicial branch has the power to interpret and enforce laws.
In the US, the executive branch has the power to enforce the law.
Concurrent/Shared Powers has the power to enforce laws.
Legislature, executive and judiciary are the 3 systems or arms of power. The legislature (parliament) has the power to make or change laws. The judiciary (court) has the power to make judgements on if a person has broken a law or not. The executive eg. police, have the power to enforce laws. Neither of these arms of power can misuse their powers. eg. the legislature cannot decide if a person is guilty or not, neither can the judiciary enforce laws.
power to enforce,
A group of people who have the power to make and enforce laws.
Enforce..?
by force =)
The job of the president is to enforce the laws. The job of Congress is to legislate laws. Together they do the business of the government. The president doesn't share power with congress, but has his own duties. Congress checks his power by not passing laws, not approving appointments, approving the budget or not, and he needs approval of congress to declare war. Constitution tries to make a balance of power between the branches. Sometimes one branch will try to gain more power from other branches. Watergate changed the office of the president and it's power.
