After the mantle, the next and last layer of the earths internal structure is the core, but the only sort of barrier that exists is a kind of transistion zone that serves as a linkage between the two layers.

The two layers of earth that are made up of liquids are the crust and the outer core. The crust is the surface of the earth which is where the oceans are. The outer core is made up of iron and is the creator of the earths magnetic field.
In Photoshop using layers, U can put two images on same layer or on two separate layers.
The Earth's mantle has two main layers: the upper mantle and the lower mantle. These layers are distinguished by differences in their composition, temperature, and behavior. The upper mantle extends from the crust to a depth of about 410 miles (660 kilometers), while the lower mantle extends from about 410 miles (660 kilometers) to approximately 1,800 miles (2,900 kilometers) below the Earth's surface.
What you mean by join two images? You can open two images separately and drag with Move Tool selected one image on top of another by simple drag and drop. You can open two images as Photoshop layers from Bridge, also image can be imported into another through Place command from File menu. See related links for additional informations
put it on separate layers one above other right click and choose merge visible
Earth scientists use two different ways of classifying the Earth's layers because they have distinct properties and characteristics. The chemical composition provides information about the materials that make up the layers, while the mechanical properties inform us about how the layers behave under stress and pressure. Both classifications are important for understanding the Earth's structure and dynamics.
When sedimentary rocks are first laid down their layers (bedding) are tangential to the earths surface (essentially they look flat). They remain like this unless two of the earths continental plates on which the flat bedded rocks are deposited crash together. When they crash together, the layers are squashed horizontally and become deformed as a result. Frequently this deformation causes the layers to fold (like scrunching paper) to accommodate and the result is folded rocks.
