NOT on the drivers side. Unless it's a Right Hand Drive vehicle.
All Ford V8's are as follows: AS SITTING IN THE CAR, the # one cyl is right front.
Number 1 is the cylinder closest to the timing belt. Mind you: Cylinder #1 is not the first cylinder to fire in the firing sequence.
The front, driver's side cylinder is the number one.
Cylinder number one is the front driver side.
Mostly Number 1 cylinder is the frontmost cylinder. Some older cars ( Alfa's are one ) the number one cylinder is the back cylinder

Number one is designated by where ever the spark plug wire from the number one cylinder is placed. Number one cylinder is the first cylinder on the the drivers side at the front of the car.
Typically it is the one that points toward the number one cylinder. Technically it can be any of them as long as the wires are in the correct firing order. When cylinder number one is a tdc, the rotor should be pointing at the number one cylinder. Thus the number one plug wire.
