all three are very different.

Alptha is very small particles that are radioactive like dust to sand grains size.

Betta are slightly bigger and give off radiation. betta is whats in x ray machines and basically anything with a radiation symbol on it.

gamma is just radiations and is not a solid object and is what comes off of alpha and betta.

there is another called Neutron but this is only present after a nuclear bomb and cannot be detected from Alpha, Betta or gamma.

The gamma ray is not a particle but is just an EM wave that transmits energy.

Beta radiation used rather than alpha or gamma radiation in this paper thickness equipment?

beta radiation used in this paper thickness equipment because alpha and gamma are very strong radiation which can not be used for paper thickness equipment such as paper are used by every one and it could cause radiation if other nuclear radiation like alpha and gamma are used.

Suppose you were given three radioactive cookies one is mixed with alpha particles the second with beta and the third with gamma you are allowed to eat one hold one and place one your pocket.?

HOLD THE ALPHA, your skin is enough to shield you from radiationPUT THE BETA IN YOUR POCKET, the cloth prevents its penetrationAnd EAT THE GAMMA, because whether you hold or put it in your pocket, you'll get the same effect, Gamma can surely get thru you

How is the atomic number of a nucleus change is it by alpha decay or beta decay or gamma decay?

Alpha decay decreases the atomic number by two. Beta- decay increases the atomic number by one. Beta+ decay decreases the atomic number by one. Gamma decay does not change the atomic number. However, gamma decay is often incidental to a precipitating alpha or beta event that upsets the energy equilibrium in the nucleus, so the two are not unrelated.

Which is worse Alpha particles or x ray particles?

That depends on how one is exposed. So the is no one answer to this question. Gamma is usually more harmful as it is highly penetrating and difficult to shield against, whereas Alpha cannot penetrate a single sheet of paper. However internal Alpha radiation can be far more harmful than an equivalent Gamma dose as the radiation deposits its energy entirely in a very small space around the source. Internal radiation occurs when a source is inhaled or ingested.

If you have three objects that each emit alpha beta and gamma respectively and which one do you throw away which one do you hold in your hand and which one do you put in your pocket?

I would recommend throwing all of them but.... Throw gamma- most penetrating Hold alpha- wont penetrate skin Pocket beta- wont penetrate thick clothes
