first of all Monocot and Dicot are seeds not roots but corn is a Monocot seed because it does not have to cotyledons........
When a seed germinates the radical emerges first, followed by the leaves
"Dicot" is a abbreviated form of the word dicotyledon. This refers to the first two seed leaves of some plants. If you plant beans or peas, the seed will split into two joined to the root and emerge from the ground as cotyledons.
A seed does NOT always develop its roots first. The sprout that first emerges from a seed is actually the part that will develop above ground if the seed is planted in the ground. The root develops once this sprout begins to shed its seed casing.

The ground floor is at ground level so the floor immediately above it must be the first floor.
A taproot.
What in America is called the 'first floor' is called the 'ground floor' in Britain. The floor immediately above that is the 'first floor', what Americans would call the 'second floor'.

No, they grow above the ground like any plant. Just the roots. The green part you eat grows above the ground, like a big weed... if you're lucky and the slugs don't get it first.
Actually, there is not much difference, but a ground floor is usually the very bottom one and the first floor is usually the one above

It depends on whether you are in America or Britain - Americans start numbering with the ground floor being called the first story, so the second story is the second floor from the ground. However, in the UK, the ground floor is the first story so that the second story would be the first floor above the ground.
