john Locke influenced Thomas Jefferson - and many of the Founding Fathers - heavily. Locke's influence on Jefferson in particular can be seen in the Declaration of Independence. For example, Jefferson was inspired by Locke's belief that all people should be entitled to "life, liberty, and property," and Jefferson wrote the now-famous phrase in the Declaration that says all men are created equal and are entitled to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
