Apart from the bending of trees, and the blowing of leases and similar, plant cells do not ordinarily move.
BUT the exception is in Ferns, which produce a motile flagellate sperm. (A mobile, sperm with a propelling tail). The Fern spores grow into a prothallus, and these exchange sperm which swim to their new home.
This is why ferns prefer a moist environment, to aid the sperm in swimming.
Xylem and Phloem are the main vessels within a plant stem responsible for the transport of water and nutrients.
plant cells help move food, water and other materials throughout a plant
Water, Food and Materials
Water
water vapour
How water moves through out our atmosphere and is cleaned
Root hair
carries water and other nutrients throughout the plant.
If the wilted plant is watered, the water always moves from a high amount of water to a lower amount. In this case, there is more water outside the plant than inside the plant. Water moves by diffusion but in this case we use a special term called osmosis. The plant will 'perk up'.
Xylem and Phloem vessels, Xylem transports water and Phloem transports the products of photosynthesis

Capillary action can refer to the movement of water and fluids vertically and throughout the structure of a plant. An example is: "Water movement can be transported upwards in a plant against the force of gravity because of capillary action."
