Basic recipe for playdough: Ingredients: 2 cups warm water 2 cups flour 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil 1 cup salt 1 Tablespoon cream of tartar (optional for improved elasticity) food coloring (liquid, powder, or kool-aid drink mix) Mix all of the ingredients (except for the food coloring) together over low heat. The dough will begin to thicken until it resembles mashed potatoes. When the dough pulls away from the sides and clumps in the center, remove the pan from heat and allow the dough to cool. If the dough is still sticky, cook it longer. Keep stirring and cooking until the dough is dry and feels like playdough. On a clean counter, knead vigorously it until it becomes silky-smooth. Divide the dough into balls for coloring. Put on gloves. Make a divot in the center of the ball, and drop some food coloring in. Fold the dough over, working the food color through the body of the playdough. Add as much dye as you like to get the desired color! Store your playdough in an airtight container.

How to Make Homemade Playdough?
Making your own playdough at home is not only easy, but children love to make their own playdough. In order to create your own playdough you will need the following items at hand. 1 cup of table salt 1 ½ cups of flour 4 table spoons of olive oil 1 cup of water Food coloring Mixing bowl Air tight container for storing the playdough Step 1: Measure out all of your ingredients. Assist the child in putting all the ingredients into the mixing bowl, expect for the food coloring. It doesn't matter which ingredient goes first, just put all in together. Step 2: Assist the child if needed with mixing the ingredients together with your hands in the mixing bowl. If the dough is too wet or sticky add a bit more flour. If the dough is too dry, add a bit more water. Keep hand mixing until everything is mixed together. This is fun for the child because they can get their hands dirty. Step 3: Grab a handful of the dough, roll it into a ball, and create a dent in it. Add a few drops of food coloring into the dent. Fold the dough over the food coloring and allow the child to mix the coloring into the dough with their hands. Step 4: Keep making dough balls and adding colors until you have different colored dough. Place each colored dough in small air tight containers. Step 5: Have fun playing with playdough.
