Why do you have sand in your gunite pool?
If you have a sand filter the laterals in it may be starting to show signs of wear these wil blow sand from the sand filter into the pool when they wear out.

This sounds as thought the laterals in your sand filter are worn. Laterals are horizontal spokes at the bottom of your sand filter with tiny holes in them that let water through but not sand. After a time the holes get enlarged and start allowing sand through and back into the pool
What does sand in the bottom of a pool mean in swimming?
One reason that causes sand to accumulate at the bottom of your pool is a sand filter with a broken lateral or laterals. Notice where the sand is accumulating? Is their return outlets from the filter directly above the small piles of sand in your pool? That is a broken lateral. You can fix this problem by scooping out the sand in the filter and replacing the laterals at the bottom of the tank. I have been cleaning and repairing pools for a long time and it is my suggestion that you hire a professional for this job.

Zeolite is lighter than sand and smaller than sand. It can get past the laterals and backwash out easier. When backwashing some of it will be in the valve. Rinsing will remove some of it but some will go to the pool.
How does a sand filter work?
A sand filter has laterals (plastic tubes with holes in them) in the bottom, covered with a foot or more of sand of a particular size grain. Pool water is flowed onto the top of the sand and vacuum pressure draws the water through the sand. The particles in the water are trapped in the upper level of the sand and the clean water flows through the laterals and back to the pool. As the dirt builds up on the top of the sand (the schmutzdeck) the filter actually cleans better. Once the dirt layer is thick enough to impede the flow of water, you have to remove it by backwashing. You do not want to backwash too often or you will lose the efficacy of the filter. Be sure to shut off the pump before you move the lever to backwash or you WILL crack the laterals - requiring a very expensive repair.
Can alum be used to clean an above-ground baquacil pool whose sand filter is leaking sand into the pool?
Alum is a floculent and these are often used to settle excessive amounts of dirt to the bottom of pools the are available from pool shops. It sounds like you will need to replace the laterals in your sand filter first so that you don't have this problem in the future. Take care vacuum the settled dirt and flock to waste do not put it through the filter.
Why does Sand comes out of pool filter when backwashing?
in your sand filter there are parts that are called fingers which have like screens in them. it sounds like you have a hole in one of yours. I had this problem last year. There are plastic parts in the bottom of the sand filter that are called laterals. They are designed the same way as spokes on a wheel. Drain the sand out of the filter and unscrew and check each lateral (I think our filter had 8) for cracks or holes. 2 of mine needed to be replaced. This wasn't hard (just a little time consuming), and the parts weren't expensive.

one of 3 things......worn laterals in the bottom of the sand filter, the sand might need changing which should be changed every 5 yrs ish or are you doing regular back washes..at least once a week.
