Most rodents that are commonly kept as pets (mice, gerbils, rats) have a lifespan of 2-3 years. Larger ones typically live longer. You're best bet would probably be guinea pigs, which will live 7-8 years.

You could also look into some less common pets (chinchillas, degus, hedgehogs), which will also have a longer lifespan than most small rodents, but may be a bit harder to care for.

The Guinea pig has the longest lifespan of, on average, 4 to 5 years. But if you take good care of it, it can live up the a healthy age of 8 years. Although the record for the longest lifespan for a guinea pig is 14 years and 10.5 months. But don't worry, your critter probably won't live that long.

Really most gerbils live for the same length. I have recently owned 8 mongolian gerbils, which is the most popular breed of gerbil for a house hold. They can live up to 5-6 years with proper care. To get longer living gerbils, put them in pairs. If you don't want to see babies I suggest you search how to distinguish male and female, because they are very sociable animals. The lonelier the gerbil, the shorter it will live.
