Sing Sing
I have never heard of this before. Maybe it should read 'killers strike again'? I could find nothing on killers on strike. Perhaps it was incarcerated, convicted killers striking about something in prison. If killers in the community were on strike, it would take a while for the drop in the murder rate to make it evident. 'Why' would be the best part of the question.
Raymond Martinez Fernandez born in Hawaii to Spanish parents, and Martha Jule Beck (Seabrook) were serial killers in post-WWII America. At the time of their arrest on February 28, 1949, Fernandez was 34, Beck 29. This team was most commonly refered to as the 'Lonely Hearts Killers' and were responsible for at least 19 murders. They traveled the country finding women through lonely hearts ads and swindled them out of their money and sometimes murdered them. They were held for trial in the Bronx Criminal Court in New York and found guilty and sentenced to the electric chair. And in 1951 at Sing Sing Prison in New York they paid their debt to society. Fernandez had to be carried to the chair but Beck was the picture of calm mouthing the words 'so long' before the hood was placed over her head.
Not many, don't worry.
Because they were convicted of crimes and sentenced to prison terms.
If you were sentenced by a judge to spend time in prison for committing a 'FELONY' offense, you are considered a convicted felon. You could be convicted of a lesser crime, such as a first degree misdemeanor, then be sent to jail/prison and not be considered a convicted felon.A FELON is someone who has committed a felony offense as codified in state or federal law.
For those convicted of misdemeanors - jail. For those convicted of felonies - prison.
Your use of the word "prison" implies that they were convicted of a felony offense. Convicted felons are prohibited from holding elective office.
No. THe penalty is prison or death, but most people convicted are sent to prison.
High security prisons.
