Which procedure is recommended when cleaning inside a computer?

First and foremost you want to ensure that the computer is shutdown correctly and the power supple switch has been turned off. Next you want to unplug the computer from the outlet. Once you open the computer it is extremely important that it is on an anti static surface and you are wearing some sort of ESD protective device (i.e. ESD wrist band) as any residual static could damage small components on the computer parts. many of the components on the parts rely on extremely small amounts of electricity and a simple shock from your fingers could overload those components. Now for those of you that want to take the lazy way out you can spray down the parts with a can of air however you want to be careful as well as this could again damage components with how strong the air is coming out of the can. An air can however is probably the best way and pretty safe to clean out the tower itself. If you want to clean everything individually such as the video card and the RAM which is all your going to really want to remove from the motherboard, then there are a few options. You can use q tips soaked in alcohol, however q tips tend to leave behind stringy residue which will just help to collect dust later, or you can use screen wipes with alcohol and just clean all the parts individually and then spray out the tower with a can of air as explained before. That should be it, not much to it, just don't overdue it on the alcohol you don't want to soak your components
