Who trusted Jesus and was baptized by Philip?

Acts 8:26-40 tells us that Philip baptized an Ethiopian official in charge of the treasury for Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. The Ethiopian official was sitting in his chariot, reading the writings of Isaiah the prophet (specifically, Isaiah 53:7-8), when Philip approached him and began a conversation about what he was reading. Philip told the Ethiopian that, "if you believe with all your heart, you may [be baptized]" (NKJV). The Ethiopian replied that "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God", at which point Philip and the Ethiopian entered the water, and Philip baptized him.

What happened in Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch?

Philip was sent by God to the Ethiopian who was studying the bible. Philip went up to him and asked what he was reading and the Ethiopian answered that he didn't know. So Philip taught him what the Scripture said and the Ethiopian believed it and wanted to be baptized. Philip then baptized the Ethiopian and God took him away.

Explain the story of the Ethiopian eunuch?

The name of the Ethiopian eunuch is not known. All that is known is that he was an unmarried man who was devoted to his master. He also would have been a convert to Judaism and was going to worship in the Temple in Jerusalem. (Acts 8:26-39)

What does doros mean?

In Ethiopian language (Amharic), Doro, means Chicken.

What did the Ethiopian Eunich learn from Phillip?

At Acts 8:26-36, God's holy spirit told Phillip to run alongside the Ethiopian Eunuch's chariot. [The Eunuch was a person of power in Queen Candace's court and was a Jewish proselyte, (he was a non-Jewish worshiper of Jehovah God). He'd gone to Jerusalem to worship at the temple and was returning home.] Philip ran alongside and heard him reading aloud Isaiah the prophet, and he said: "Do you actually know what you are reading?" The Eunuch said: "Really, how could I ever do so, unless someone guided me?"And he entreated Philip to get on and sit down with him". In answer the eunuch said to Philip: "I beg you, about whom does the prophet say this? About himself or about some other man?" Philip opened his mouth and, starting with this Scripture, he declared to him the good news about Jesus". (Isaiah prophesied 'Christ would remain silent before those who would put him to death and that he would die a painful death''. Isaiah 53:3-8). This Ethiopian Eunuch only knew the Old Testament. He needed to be taught how Christ Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the 'Messiah' and had given his life for mankind. The New Testament hadn't even been written down yet, so all of Jesus Christ's disciples had been taught to preach door-to-doorand house to house, (Matthew 24:14, Matthew 28:19&20 and Acts 20:20), or 'road to road'as Phillip did then and as all faithful Christians do today. Everyone on Earth must have the chance to hear the good news about God's Kingdom, with Christ as our King, and to gain everlasting life!!

Who was Phillip Babb?

Phillip Babb was of English descent. He landed on the Isles of Shoals in southern Maine around the mid 1600's. He was told to be a Constable of Peace, a magistrate, a Fish Master, and a butcher. Phillip had many children with wife Mary Baylie whom he married in 1661 in the Isles of Shoals. Tales of piracy surround this name. I do believe that the pirate was the son of Phillip and Mary Babb. I did find that Phillip and Mary bore a son named Phillip in 1666. This son may be the pirate Phillip Babb who has been linked to the alias "Pedro the Pirate" in the famous Ocean Born Mary legend. This seems to fit more historically correct if the date of birth were 1720 for Mary. Phillip (the pirate) christened the ocean born baby after his mother "Mary" who had died in 1674 when little Phillip was only 13 years of age. Also Phillip was said to have been Captain William Kidd's first mate. Kidd was falsely accused and hanged for piracy in 1701. After Kidd's death, Phillip is said to have turned to piracy which puts the time frame (early 1700's) more accurate for the first Phillip Babb who arrived in the mid 1600's on the coast of southern Maine to be the father of the pirate Phillip Babb who pillaged and plundered the eastern coast around the early 1700's. In the Ocean born Mary story they describe an old salt (Phillip) moving to a town in New Hampshire to live out his last years. This town in N.H. was not far from his original birthplace in southern Maine. This is my findings after reading and trying to piece together the history of Phillip Babb. Regards, Curtis Babb

How hard is it to learn amharic?

To be honest Amharic is a very difficult language especially if you are not from there i am an Ethiopian that lives in Ethiopia but it is still a very hard language even for me! I went to an international school so i learned English from a young age and am a fluent speaker in English although i am an Ethiopian English still comes much more naturally to me. Spoken Amharic is much more easier that writing and reading. Reading and writing in Amharic is one of the hardest things i have ever learned i still have a very hard time reading and it takes me like 20 seconds to read 1 word so reading books in Amharic is out of the question. But if you insisnt on learing it the best way is come to Ethiopia for 6 months and just live here and I'm sure you will learn it much faster than sitting in a class room.

What book does belle read in Beauty and the Beast?

I believe she is reading "Sleeping Beauty" because she says it's about daring sword fights and a prince in disguise. So I think she was referring to sleeping beauty when prince Phillip is fighting the dragon and how Rose doesn't know he's a prince when she first meets him.
