The are a vast number of "hymns", songs and musical pieces that may be sung at a church wedding, therefore it is almost impossible to list all the hymns that would be acceptable. The hymns/songs that are not acceptable are secular in nature. ie: "You light up my life" had been a favorite of many a bride. The is not appropriate, being hedonistic in tone. The last line being "How can it be so wrong if it feels so right?"
The hymns of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) are a collection of sacred and inspirational writings set to music. Music has long been an important part of most religions and has been shown to be an effective method of bringing an individual into a spiritual frame of mind. In the church, the hymns generally deal with specific gospel themes or topics, ranging from the life and atonement of the Savior, to the Sacrament, to such things as personal prayer and worship. Hence a broad majority of the hymns of the church deal with topics that help individuals to "live worthily." Also found in the LDS hymnal are patriotic hymns, as well as many that deal with the events of the Restoration. The first hymnal of the church was compiled by Emma Smith, wife of the prophet Joseph Smith, as a result of a revelation received by the prophet instructing Emma that "the song of the righteous is a prayer unto [the Lord]." Hence music is an integral part of Latter-day Saint worship services and many special events. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir frequently draws from the LDS hymns in their weekly "Music and the Spoken Word" broadcasts, as well as when providing music for the church's semi-annual General Conferences.
John Wesley played a big part in the reformation , he also wrote many hymns.
