There is a diPstick at the front on the transmission differential
The 2001 Subaru all back transmission dipstick is located behind the engine, in the engine compartment. The transmission dipstick should have a yellow handle.
The manual transmission dipstick on a 2002 Subaru WRX is on the passenger side of the engine bay. It is below the air cleaner.
in the tube the dipstick came out of
Unfortunately, you need to pour the transmission fluid into the dipstick hole. Found in Subaru owners manual
You must remove the transmission, the front differential is built right in.
Goes into the dipstick reservoir...
Pull the dipstick out, put a funnel into the tube where the dipstick was, open transmission fluid container, pour.
Read your owners manual -- It will give you clear instructions on how to do this. It should be on the drivers side between the motor and the firewall. Check the differential oil on the passenger side in about the same place. Subaru transmissions use both transmission fluid and 90 weight gear lube.
Facing the car, the transmission dipstick is to the left toward the firewall and near the bottom of the engine compartment. It's rather hidden! The handle should be yellow.
The transmission vent is plugged with debris.
Yes, it will fit and mount up just fine. But you will have to make sure the front differential gear ratio matches that of your rear differential. Or what you could do is swap the transmission from the Forester along with the rear differential from the Forester
