Follow these steps to prevent the generation of aerosols in centrifuges: 1. Routinely inspect the centrifuge to ensure there is no leakage. 2. Do not overfill centrifuge tubes. 3. Wipe the outside of the tubes with an appropriate disinfectant after they are filled and sealed. 4. Centrifuge inside a biological safety cabinet. If a biological safety cabinet is not available, internal aerosol containment devices (e.g., sealed canisters, safety cups or buckets with covers, heat sealed tubes or sealed rotors) should be used. 5. Remove aerosol containment devices and open them in a biological safety cabinet. If a biological safety cabinet is unavailable, a minimum of 10 minutes settling time should be allowed before opening.

Top to bottom, dry to wet to dry. =Heavy Cleaning= Always start at the top of any cleaning project. Go round the ceiling crown moldings with the broom covered with a dust cloth to rid yourself of cob webs. Then sweep down the walls. (Wash walls top to bottom, one by one and dry with towel, if necessary.) Use your dust cloth on the tops of the shower surround, medicine cabinet, and the like. Mix a solution of water and Lysol, Pine Sol, Mr. Clean, or whatever you are comfortable with. With the solution, use a sponge to wash the tops of the shower surround, light switches, medicine cabinet, mirror, counters and sink, the entire toilet tank, in that order. (Top to bottom) Step inside the shower and, using the sponge and solution, wash the shower surround inside including spigot and faucet handles. Wash the tub including spigot and faucet handles. Using a towel, dry everything that you have washed as you go. You may need vinegar and water (3 tbsp white vinegar/3 cups water) in spray bottle for mirror if streaky. Use newspaper to dry. Pour a small amount of your cleaning solution into the toilet. Using gloves and your sponge wipe out the inside of the bowl. If necessary, use a pumice stone for hard water deposits and the like. Sweep and mop and dry the floor with the towel. =Weekly= Pick up and straighten. Mix a small amount of cleaning solution and wet dust. Dry with towel. Use same cleaning pattern as for heavy cleaning. Clean the mirror with vinegar/water. Sweep. Wipe up spills.
