In animal cells, organelles called Centrioles are responsible for the formation of spindle fibres during cell division. In diploid cells, there is a pair of centrioles present. In the Anaphase stage, these move to opposite poles of the cell and after the spindle fibres attach to the chromosomes, pull them to the respective side.
Each centriole is made of two identical cartwheel-like components, positioned at right angles to each other.
Cholchicine controls the formation of spindle during cell division. Therefore, application of 1% aquous solution of cholchicine in the shoot apices of young plants have been used in several cases to induce polyploidy.
The structure that controls movement of the chromosomes during cell division in the animals are called microtubules. Microtubules is also called mitotic spindle fibers.
The centriole plays a role in cell division. It is found in animal cells but not in higher plant cells or fungi.
nucleus
Plants cells do not have centrioles. These form the mitotic apparatus during prophase in mitosis, Which include aster and spindle fibre formation, as without spindle fibres, there would be no chromosomes held and no cell division would occur .
The centrosome. The mitotic spindle. The spindle apparatus.
spindle fibers
spindle fibers
Spindle fibres are tiny tube-like structures made of protein to which chromosomes attach during cell division.
An organelle in many animal cells that appears to be involved in the formation of the spindle during mitosis. During cell division, the two centrioles move to opposite sides of the nucleus to form the ends of the spindle.
Used during Meiosis and Mitosis, only in animals. Helps with cell division.
The begining of the formation of the mitotic spindle-During prophase, the mitotic spindle begins to form.
Spindle is a grouping of fibers composed of microtubules. This grouping is very prominent during cell division.
The kinetochore anchors chromosomes to microtubules in the spindle during cell division. The centrosome serves as a nucleating center for microtubules in the spindle and anchors them to opposite sides of the cell.
spindle apparatus
Plants cells do not have centrioles. These form the mitotic apparatus during prophase in mitosis, Which include aster and spindle fibre formation, as without spindle fibres, there would be no chromosomes held and no cell division would occur .
The centrosome. The mitotic spindle. The spindle apparatus.
spindle fibers
Spindle fibers move chromosomes to the center of the cell during metaphase of cell division and break the chromosomes apart during Anaphase.
spindle fibers
A collection of minute fibers composed of microtubules, which are prominent during cell division, asmitotic spindle or mitotic apparatus''.
