Eating any fruit will prevent scurvy (vitamin C deficiency). However there are no conditions that can be soley cured by eating pineapples.
It's a deficiency in vitamin C, which normally comes from citrus fruits or cabbages. Only a relatively small amount is required to prevent the disease. Lack of vitamin C historically affected sailors on long ocean voyages, hence its maritime connection.
There are many different thyroid diseases. Most cannot be prevented. Iodine deficiency problems may however be prevented with sufficient iodine intake.
A chemical substance used to treat, prevent, or diagnose a disease, or to alter bodily functions is called a pharmaceutical or drug. These substances are designed to interact with specific targets in the body to achieve desired therapeutic effects.
Eating carbohydrates alone does not typically lead to a deficiency disease, as carbohydrates are a primary source of energy in the diet. However, if a diet is excessively high in simple carbohydrates and lacks essential nutrients, it could lead to deficiencies in vitamins and minerals, potentially resulting in conditions like scurvy (from vitamin C deficiency) or beriberi (from thiamine deficiency). A balanced diet, including proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, is essential to prevent nutrient deficiencies.
Probably most heart disease is from a potassium deficiency. Some heart disease is from a vitamin B-1 deficiency, the "wet" heart disease of beri-beri. If both are deficient heart disease does not materialize. If both are deficient and only one of those nutrients are supplemented heart disease will be triggered.. So if you have heart disease and do not know which kind it is, it is important to supplement with both nutrients. Also it is important not to eat or drink anything with phosphates or phosphoric acid as it will cause 100% mortality. Vitamin B-1 deficiency can arise from eating a lot of refined flour, especially if food or drink with sulfites or sulfur dioxide in them is also imbibed, including alcoholic beverages fermented with sulfur dioxide.
Coffee won't prevent Alzheimer's disease.
Drugs are good when used at appropriate doses, routes, administration techniques, and in the right frequency to the right patient to treat a disease state, medical condition, health problems, maintain normal body functions, prevent a disease state, or to supplement for a dietary deficiency.
Goiter is a problem with the thyroid gland, most commonly caused by an iodine-deficiency disease. You can prevent or cure it by eating seafoods which are rich in iodine, or by using iodized table salt.
Vitamin A deficiency is rare in vegetarians but can cause vision problems. Eating orange and yellow vegetables will prevent this.
Vaccines, such Fluvax, can prevent viral disease.
Deficiency diseases related to starch are rare, as starch is a primary source of energy for the body. However, inadequate starch intake can lead to low energy levels, weakness, and difficulties in maintaining proper blood sugar levels. Ensuring a balanced diet with sufficient starch-rich foods can help prevent any potential deficiency issues.
