JPEG represents the color on 24bit (i.e. 2^24 colors).
GIF only supports 2^8 colors = 256 colors
The answer is JPEG.
jpeg is smaller (followed by png, gif and a bmp-which is largest).
GIF are images that are moving, aminated. While JPEG images are still.
There are multiple differences between GIF images and JPEG images. One main difference is that a GIF may show an animation, while a JPEG is simply one still picture.
A GIF animation is essentially a flipbook, it is several frames put together in order to "simulate" animation. Gif animations are often crude and low resolution. Flash anim. on the other hand is made with Dreamweaver (or some other program), where the possibilities of creation(animation) are endless :)
jpeg takes up less
.bmp stands for Bit Map Picture. This is the standard bit-mapped graphics format used in the Windows environment. By convention, graphics files in the BMP format end with a.BMP extension. .gif stands for Graphical Interchange Format. This is pronounced jiff or giff (hard g). It is bit-mapped graphics file format used extensively on the World Wide Web. GIF supports color and various resolutions. It also includes data compression, but because it is limited to 256 colors, it is more effective for scanned images such as illustrations rather than color photos.
The effect of the GIF,JPEG,PNG,BMP and TIFF on the data transfer
Google Docs supports .jpeg, .png, .gif (non-animated), .tiff, .bmp image formats.
A GIF does the same as a JPEG just uses less space and can be used in different programs
Depends on the size - lots more than text, less than a jpeg.
Just open the jpeg image in photo shop and go to menus : file --> save for web and devices. A save for web and devices window will open, set its extension to gif then click on save button. It will save your jpeg image to gif image. Cheers
Animated JPEG are multiple single jpeg images that is runned under a javascript which runs the jpeg like a animated GIF, by frames of each images.
