Do you have to claim a tax refund as income if you are on unemployment?

A tax refund is not income as defined by the IRS. However, if the taxes paid were claimed as a deduction in the income tax for that year, there is an adjustment to the AGI. Some states provide for counting this in the following year.

Can you get a tax refund if you paid no taxes?

No. If you did not pay any taxes or have them deducted from your paycheck, you can not get a refund. However, because of many special programs in the tax system, the earned income tax c credit programs most noteably, you may receive what would seem like a "refund" of taxes that you didn't even pay! These same credits may be provided over the year in each of your paychecks and you should talk with your payroll manager about it.

Back tax refund?

Prior year tax refund. The IRS would be the only one that would be able to help you with this information about any missing refund that you have not received if you have filed your income tax return correctly and mailed it or sent it to the correct IRS address. To check on your current year income tax refund go to the IRS.gov website and choose check on my refund or where is my refund on either side of the web page.

What if you owe IRS but have a refund?

If you owe money to the IRS for prior years taxes, and you have a refund due to you on this year's taxes, the IRS will keep the refund and apply it towards the debt that you owe.

If you owe the IRS can you still get a rapid refund?

I don't understand your question. A refund (rapid or otherwise) occurs when you have overpaid your taxes and the IRS owes you money. If you owe the IRS money, you will not be getting any kind of refund. If you are talking about the situation where this year's tax return shows a refund, but you still owe unpaid taxes from last year, do NOT apply for a rapid refund. The IRS will keep your refund to pay your back taxes and the rapid refund company will still charge you a fee for processing the rapid refund even though you won't be getting any refund. You've waited this long to get a refund. Even if the IRS wasn't getting your refund, is it really worth paying $100 or $200 in fees just to get your refund one week earlier? well that answer is not totally true if you owe the IRS does not mean will not get any refund back because they could have still owed it from the year before and the IRS will deduct what is owed and send out the difference

Why the IRS did except the loan with taxes and the bank that writes your return did noy xcept it?

Do you mean that your return was accepted by the IRS but declined by the bank. If so this year there are certain banks that can not provide loans for your refund. This has cause all of the lenders that are able to crack down on the amout of loans that they provide before the IRS issues them the refund. Hope this helps!

If bankruptcy exemptions for the state of Kansas include food and fuel for a year can you exempt a tax refund needed to provide food and fuel for that year?

The actual refund will probably be required to be included in the filing. When all assets are totaled and exemptions deducted the amount determined to cover specified exemptions will be returned to the debtor. Which may end up being the same amount as the refund, however regular bankruptcy procedures must be followed.
