state
country
States usually make up a country. A country has more land.
In almost all contexts, "country" and "state" mean the exact same thing. Only in the United States of America are "States" usually thought of as a subdivision of a country. So, usually a country and a state have the same amount of land, since usually they're the same thing.
It depends because in Americas case a country is much bigger, because America is composed of many states put together. But some places a state is a country. Overall I would say that more often than not countries are bigger.

A country because on a map Mexico and Canada which are countries are way larger than the states.
A state is typically a subdivision of a country, with its own government and set of laws. A country, on the other hand, is an independent political entity that consists of one or more states. States are usually grouped together to form a country.
Usually, the state comes before the country when specifying a location. For example, "California, USA" or "Tokyo, Japan." The state provides a more specific geographical location within the larger country.
The state that has more land is Texas.
States are typically smaller divisions (provinces, territories) of countries. However, "a state" is sometimes used to mean a nation, a sovereign country, or a part of a country that has declared independence (recognized or not). Some of the states of the US and Australia are larger than many of the world's smaller countries.
