Well the "Cold War" was mainly between both the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR/Russia) and the United States of America (U.S.A). One of other main characters in the Cold War was Fidel Castro who supported the Communist movement and played a major part in the Cuban missile crises.
There was only one atomic age...which created the cold war; thus there was only one cold war; 1945-1990 & it was world wide.
The Korean War was one of the larger conflicts of the Cold War, along with the Vietnamese War (which lasted a lot longer).
There was NO place in the Cold War that had action. That is why it was called " cold" . If any action had taken place it would have resulted in total war.

There is no connection between the 20th century Cold War and the US Civil War. One major difference was that the Cold War was not one nation seeking to break free from its original position. Which for the South meant its position as a state within the US.

The two major players in the Cold War were the US and the Soviet Union. These two nations did not have battles or real wars during the Cold War years. Other conflicts among smaller communist nations, and a large one, China, were related to the Cold War. Wars in Korea and Vietnam can be considered wars with roots in the Cold War.
One of them was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by Gavrilo Princip
Communism verses non-communists. But, communists and non-communists EXISTED before the cold war. The Atomic Age created the cold war. If no nuclear weapons existed, there would have been no cold war. There would probably have been a hot one. World War 3 if the the communists wished to start one. But without atomic weapons, it would have been a world war fought looking very much like the Korean War did; jets against jets, etc.
