Pentium 4
Pentium D was the first dual-core cpu.
´Dual core' just means that there are 2 separate cores in the CPU. Intel has made dual core pentuim 4, core duo and core 2 duo CPUs. ´Core 2 Duo´ is just one type of dual core CPU that Intel has made.
Pentium D was 1st Intel desktop CPU to put 2 CPU's in same package called dual core. It uses a 775 pin motherboard socket, now a standard for many Intel processors

Dual core CPU can be compared with two branch water pipe. The CPU is the water tank reservoir while the two branching pipes are the two pipelines. if water is drawn from the pipe one the pipe two is not working or vice versa and the tank is only drawn half of the capacity.
Dual core is the property of having two cores in a single CPU. Core2Duo is an Intel CPU that has two cores.
Intel dual core
The best CPU is probably the Intel dual core E6750 or some AMD 64 BLACK version.
The first dual core CPU for the high-end / server market was the Intel "Itanium 2 (Montecito series)" processor. It was released in 2006. Besides that also the "Intel Pentium D" and the "Intel Pentium Extreme Edition" offered two cores. Both have been released in 2005.
A "dual core" CPU is one that has 2 CPU cores (as opposed to 1 in older computers). "Core 2 Duo" is line of (dual core) CPUs produced by Intel.
Intel & AMD are main CPU makes.Models of each are given below :Intel : P -IV, Intel DUal COre, Core 2 Duo, Quad Core etc.AMD : Athlon, Phenom, Opteron etc.
The first CPU chip was released on November 15, 1971 by Intel. The processor was called the Intel 4004 and was a 4-bit CPU.
