97-05 lefty loosy, but very tight on my 99.
Counter clockwise as per normal.
crankshaft pulley bolt is left hand thread,so it will come out opposite direction to normal bolts
The bolt pattern is the same, but the 21R engine has 2 locator dowels, which must be accurately marked and drilled on the gearbox, if it has come from an 18R. The bolt pattern on the crankshaft end are not the same, so the flywheels are not interchangable.
just changed it today, located right side of engine, under to the right of the engine cover , has wires coming off it looking like a bolt,, water will come out when you loosen the bolt.
The bolt is stuck and can't seem to come off.

It Turns Counterclockwise
most crankshaft pulleys have a left hand thread. this means it turns opposite direction or clockwise to remove
Jack the motor up and take the motor mount loose on the top right side. Carefully lower the motor down until you see the crankshaft bolt on the bottom. Then take the center bolt off the crankshaft and then the pulley will come off.
Yes. There were no engine options, the LT1 was the engine.
If the engine is a 2.4L four cylinder engine, the crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine, passenger side, where the crankshaft comes out of the engine, on the lower side. You can see the sensor from the top side, with a 2 point wire connector on it. Just disconnect the wire, and use a 10 mm deep socket to disconnect the sensor from the engine. It should come out without spilling any oil, and if you have a new sensor available, be sure to match the O-ring on the old sensor, then lubricate the O-ring with oil, and push the new sensor in, bolt it down, reconnect the wire, and the job is done.
