Originally it was named "Concord", built in 1710 in Britain and captured in 1711 by the French who renamed it "Le Concorde de Nantes". It was then captured again by Cpt. Benjamin Hornigold in 1717. Hornigold turned the ship over to one of his pirates, Edward Teach (Blackbeard). Blackbeard renamed Le Concorde "Queen Anne's Revenge" and used it as his flagship.

The English pirate Edward Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard the Pirate, was the Captain of the pirate vessel Queen Anne's Revenge. The ship was originally a British frigate named the Concord, and ran as a slave ship. She was captured by pirate Captain Benjamin Hornigold, and given to Blackbeard, who at the time was one of his men.Blackbeard ran the ship aground in Beaufort Inlet, Carteret County, North Carolina, in November 1996. The shipwreck's artifacts continue to be recovered to this day.
One famous pirate ship is the "Queen Anne's Revenge," which was captained by the notorious pirate Blackbeard, also known as Edward Teach. This ship was originally a French slave ship before Blackbeard captured it and outfitted it with 40 guns. The Queen Anne's Revenge became a symbol of piracy in the early 18th century.
