A body giving out light continually radiates energy. Light waves are electromagnetic waves which propagate by time varying electric and magnetic field. As energy is associated with both these fields so light also carries energy. Besides to produce these fields a body(say an electron) has to do work and the body's energy decreases. This energy is carried by light waves.
