Many of the standing poses are good yoga poses for beginners. Seated and balancing poses are also good beginning poses. Sun salutation is a very easy good beginner pose, as is bend forward and downward dog.
A few yoga positions to try out for beginners would include the Downward Dog (to help strengthen the entire body, and used as a transition into more advanced poses), the Tree Pose (to improve balance), and basic breathing and meditation exercises are essential. More advanced poses include the Firefly Pose, King Dancer Pose, and a real test of strength would be the Warrior III pose.
