Bacteria builds up after awhile, which results in the "fur" on your tongue. Also, shortly after eating sweet things, your tongue might burn because the acid in the candy/sweet thing is making your taste buds swell and sting. This usually only happens with sour candy, and the "furry tongue" can easily be reversed by scraping the "fur" off.

Black furry tongue?

Unless you've been eating something with a black food dye in it, black tongue may be a sign of an upper gastric bleed of some kind -- perhaps an ulcer. Look also for black, tarry stools and or "coffee grounds" in vomitus. Check this one out with your dock -- GI bleeds can sometimes be life threatening.
