Slater pioneered the factory system in America, Whitney invented the cotton gin, and Jacquard developed the Jacquard loom, which used punched cards to control the weaving of intricate patterns.

Two of the inventors during 1820-1860 are Francis Cabot Lowell and Samuel Slater. Also, Eli Whitney and Elias Howe are known to be inventors during this time period.
Whitney invented new machines such as the cotton gin, and interchangeable parts. That helped production of cotton in the north. Slater was a factory worker in Britain he studied the machines then secretly came to New England and started a factory based on Britain's ideas triggering the start of the Industrial Revolution.
