Are all wiki answer correct?

While most of the contributors on WikiAnswers try to answer your questions correctly and honestly to the best of their ability it is a sad fact that there are vandals who spam for website and answer questions with nonsense answers trying to be funny. These people are banned from the site by a supervisor like me so that they can no longer vandalise it. We also have supervisors for each different categories of questions go through and make sure that all of the questions and answers are correct. These supervisors are volunteers who deserve the respect of the WikiAnswers community because they take their time to make WikiAnswers a better place for all.

Is WikiAnswers conning people?

No, WikiAnswers itself does not con people. Users on WikiAnswers may post false information in order to lure people into a scam, but this information can be removed by Supervisors and other WikiAnswers members as soon as it is identified. If you spot a user trying to scam people on WikiAnswers, remove their edits and contact a Supervisor.

How do you restore your reputation on WikiAnswers?

You can restore your reputation by not trying to vandalize answers, and also by contributing right answers. Having mutual respect for other contributors when it comes to questions that require contributors to offer opinions or a gray area exists when it comes to answering.

Why can Supervisors edit your answers by removing some exclamation points but when you do it you get accused of trying to take credit for someone else's answer?

Editing answers in a minor way should be marked as minor by the Supervisor, hence you will keep credit for the answer. It is encouraged that all disputes between Supervisors and Contributors are mediated through the Community Advisor - for more information please see the "Related Links" section of this answer.

How many contributions do you have to have in order to be a supervisor?

The requirements to become a supervisor are:Ask at least three questions.Contribute at least 10 answers to questions.Make at least 15 assorted edits, eg. improving questions, moving them, adding related questions and links, etc.You must be at least 15 years of age.Meeting the above requirements does not always mean you are ready to become a supervisor. Supervisors need to understand how WikiAnswers works and all of the rules on the site. If you are trying to become a supervisor you might want to consider joining one of the programs on WikiAnswers, like the SPA program, WIT, or WikiReviewers.

What happens if WikiAnswers are wrong?

There are almost 700 supervisors trying to make sure the site is running smoothly and the answers are accurate. We are not perfect though. If you feel your answer is incorrect you may hit the "report abuse" button on the top right or if you feel you know the answer, add it to the bottom of the page!

Why can't WikiAnswers answer the question you just asked?

Because the Wikianswers contributors, supervisors, and staff are busy, they get loads of questions coming in daily. So it might take a few days to answer your questions. It is like trying to catch raindrops in a teacup. Please be patient. Also, some questions can't be answered. The question may be poorly worded so that we don't really know what it's asking, or it doesn't include sufficient information to answer. The may be too impractical to answer ("How many mayors are there in the United States and what are their names?"). Or it is a question that won't be answered as a matter of policy. That includes celebrity home phone numbers, mean-spirited questions, and information on how to perform illegal activities.

What are the rules about interacting courteously with other uses on WikiAnswers?

No, there are no "written" rules or policies, as we are trying hard not to become a site driven by a multitude of guidelines and regulations. This is a community, where folks collaborate on questions and answers. It's about cooperation, communication and tolerance. Courtesy should be a given. Although Supervisors may have and indeed show diverse convictions, characters and ways of doing things, they should always keep in mind the common goal: creating and maintaining a quality permanent information resource. To enter into a bitter conflict with another Supervisor or to disrespect his or her work in any way is something that should never happen. We're all human and we will all make mistakes from time to time. We're also learning and sharing a project that is in constant expansion, and new challenges will always appear. Below are some recommendations from WikiAnswers Supervisors to help new supervisors to understand the ins and outs of effectively communicating with other supervisors. They are not meant to replace the official WikiAnswers Terms of Use or other WikiAnswers guidelines as presented in our detailed Help Center. Here are some things to keep in mind along the way: * Before reverting a Supervisor's contribution, contact him or her and explain your concerns. Supervisors do not typically vandalize or spam the site, therefore reverting is probably not justified. * Contact a Supervisor if you think he or she blocked a contributor without proper justification. Always let the Supervisor imposing a block know in advance if you plan to release a block or to request its release, and provide a clear and polite explanation for your reasons. * Never speak negatively to contributors about other Supervisors or entice them to go against their work. Always talk to other Supervisors if you believe that they are behaving inappropriately. * Try always to avoid airing differences with other supervisors at the Q&A, discussion pages, message boards and at the Supers Forum, as that may induce others to get involved turning matters more complex. * Be polite and friendly when communicating with other Supervisors, especially when leaving posts on their public message boards. It may be a good idea, when disagreeing with other supervisor, to contact him or her as privately as possible at first, it shows courtesy and also allows to someone that made an error of judgment, to solve it without much exposure. When a disagreement arises, try to arrive at an understanding or at least find common ground. Should this fail, you can request the assistance of an experienced Supervisor or Community Assistant who both trust.

Why does Wikianswers allow jokers to answer serious and or legitimate questions?

Jokers Answering Serious and Legitimate QuestionsI guess that is what you get with free speech and first amendment rights. Think of wikianswers as a little piece of the world, there are nice and not so nice people here. Keep trying and you will mostly find good. In addition, WikiAnswers has over 500 dedicated supervisors who remove answers that do not answer the questions or are not appropriate answers, including those that are joking, rude, or not serious answers. People who give those types of answers are considered vandals and are often blocked from using WikiAnswers.

Why does WikiAnswers block hoeb and me?

If you have been previously blocked from participating in wiki answers it is because one of the supervisors felt that you had said something inappropriate, or were hurtful, or trying to create a disturbance rather than seek knowledge or answer a question earnestly. If I feel that you are not in the best interest of the wiki community then I too will block you.
