The people in the gold rush mostely used tents but some of them biult there own houses for comfort.
When the gold rush was over some of the people went back to the country they came from and the remaining people spread out around Australia.
Sutters mill was a mill owned by some dude by the name of John W. Marshall. He discovered some gold in it prior to the Gold Rush. His secret somehow spread and that is how the Californian Gold Rush began. Remember, the gold rush is what caused thousands of people into the state, and eventually the gold rush led to California becoming a state.

Edward Hargraves Involvement in the Gold Rush era is he was a gold miner and that he helped with people to find gold. People say that he was the first to find gold in Australia But some say the he was just lucky with that government to have found gold and get rewarded for it.
The gold rush wasn't like a store that closes. Actually, there is still gold and getting it has been expensive in recent years. After California became a state less people came to seek gold and more began businesses or went back home. The towns that were created durning the gold rush still exist and people live there today. Some people still mine or pan for gold.

Peter Lalor was a well know gold Miner/panner. Edward Hargraves was know to be the first gold found in Australia recorded he was know to have traveled to California to take part in the gold rush but he found nothing and he realised that some of the gold fields there looked like some places in Australia (maquarie valley) so he set off to find gold with the help of John Lister and James Tom and claimed the reward of $5000 but after James Tom protested he only claimed $2381.
