There is no such thing in Sikhism, that it is to be worshiped on a specific day. every day is a day to worship for a Sikh. a Sikh is ordered by his gurus to remember the god every time of every day
The beginning of Sikh Scripture is not an alphabet or word but a figure which is "1".And so on the whole of Sikh Gurus and Sikh Bhagats teachings emphasize only on the worship of One God who has created the universe, is sustaining it and will destroy it too.Worship is of One God alone, through out the scripture the Sikh Gurus and Sikh Bhagats have used different names and also the ways to relating with God but the oneness of God is throughout maintained. For Sikhs God is Formless without any shape, size, color, who is imminent in his/her creation but at the same time transcendtal.
The ten gurus are remembered through Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (The eleventh guru). Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the holy book which contains all rules and regulations of the Sikh faith. It also contains stories that have morals to them along with what the Gurus had said back in their time and how we are to implement those orders in our lives.
As per Sikh religion both men and women are seen equal. The Sikhs Guru themselves spoke of it. Whether in relation to spiritual matters or worldly matters, woman is the other half of man. One very good early example in which Sikh Guru equated women with men was when Sikh Gurus started Masand System for spreading their teachings. There were 24 masands out of which 8 were women who were equally given the rights to preach the teachings of Sikh Gurus. It was a huge step forward considering the time when women everywhere were not given equal rights in worldy matters, let alone being a spiritual preacher.Furhtermore, women also participated alongside men in battles with Mughal rulers of their time. Also please be advised if the followers don't follow Gurus teachings, it is the follower who is in question not the Guru who has given same position to both male and female. Thank You
In a sense, no, pictures of Gurus are not real as there were no cameras in their time. Most of the images of the Gurus are paintings by artists who lived around the same time as them.
The Sikh religion has had many different Gurus (11 in total, including the Guru Granth Sahib). These Gurus have influenced many worship methods and have been inspired by other religions, such as Hinduism
The Sikh religion was born as a result of fighting against Muslim invaders and rulers. The eldest son of every (Hindu) family was asked to fight against the invaders and over a period of time these men formed their own philosophy based on the teachings of their 10 gurus. Some of these Gurus attempted to take the best of what they say in Hinduism and Islam (no idols, one god, no caste system, concept of equality amongst men and women).
Sikhs can pray at Gurudwara(Sikh Place of worship) and at their home also or any where. They pray by meditating on God, by remembering all the ten Sikh Gurus, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji,the five beloved and all other who had sacrificed their lives and put their efforts in keeping Sikhism as it has come to be.
The Right Time - Hoodoo Gurus song - was created in 1993-11.
Vaisahki is a Sikh celebration in november ehn the Sikhs celebrate a special event in history. This event is a gathering that happened at the time of the gurus. One of the gurus asked that 5 men sacrafice their heads to him. 5 devoted sikhs volunteered and went with him into a tent where he cut their heads off. However, they all came out alive and claimed they were brought back to life. From then on, they were known as the Panj Piare (Five Beloved) because they showed their faithfulness to their guru.
