The Sikh religion was born as a result of fighting against Muslim invaders and rulers. The eldest son of every (Hindu) family was asked to fight against the invaders and over a period of time these men formed their own philosophy based on the teachings of their 10 gurus. Some of these Gurus attempted to take the best of what they say in Hinduism and Islam (no idols, one god, no caste system, concept of equality amongst men and women).
