Lane's given name is Joseph Lane. He changed it to Nathan because there was already a Nathan Lane in Equity (the stage actors' union) and he chose Nathan because he loved Guys and Dolls and the character Nathan Detroit.
It is a huge circle seating area looking down onto the stage where the actors would of played there characters. There are no nails or glue used but the peices are just slotted together, you can go there and look around this amazing piece of architecture...... I hoped that this helped

It is an excellent school. It handles some of the student from NYU and its conservatory is beyond reproach. Stella Adler founded the school and from there has taught amazing actors such as Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Benicio del Toro. Stella has an entire technique of acting named after her. The Adler technique is best for very intelligent actors, the people I've seen struggle are not always the brightest crayon in the box. I currently attend and have been to other schools and studied other techniques and I have found an amazing fit at Stella. It's warm, welcoming, compassionate and very aware of making an impact on the world for the better. It's a small school, and is quite hard to get into, but for the money you really can't beat the education you will find there.
hot seat or "hot seating" is when a person sits an the middle of a semi circle with their class or fellow actors around them. the surrounding people ask the person in the hot seat (person in center of circle) question that they have to answer in character. this is used as character development and often creates upsets of a character that the actor themselves haven't thought of. A Amazing way of development.
