Shi'i and Sunni.
However, the Sunni are willing to consent to anyone who can control the reins of power even if that person is not of Qoresh (Muhammed's Family). The Shi'a are completely opposed to anyone not of Qoresh being the Leader of Islam.
the distinctive institution of shiism is the immamte and the question of the Immate is inseprable from that of wilayah or the esoteric function of interpreting the inner mysterious of the holy Quran and the Shariah .according to the shiite view , the successor of the prophet of islam must be one who not only rules ever in community in justice but also is able to to interpret the Divine Law and its esoteric meaning.hence he must be free from error and sinn and he must be chosen from on high by divine decree through the prophet.the whole ethos of shiism revoloves around the basic notion of wilayah.which is intimatly connected with the notion of sancitity in Sufism. At the same time wilayah contains certain implications on the level of the shariah inas much as the imam, or he who administers the function of wilayah,is also the interpreter of religion for the religious community nd its guide nd legitimate ruler.
consequently we say that according to shiite views bout successor of prophet and interpreter of religion, it is only imam Ali must be recognazed as right successor by shiites.
