These gardens were called Cahar Bagh, four Gardens , Because of their symmetrical division into quaters3. The chahar bagh, garden also had ariation that historians describe as the 'river - front garden " .

The Bagh-e Babur was built by the first Mughal Emperor Babur at Kabul, Afghanistan. It is one of the earliest surviving Mughal gardens. Though he conquered India and lived there until his death in 1530, he wished to be buried at the Bagh-e Babur at Kabul. He died at Agra and his body was transferred to Bagh-e Babur by his widow Bibi Mubarika.
The Bagh was designed and built in 1633 by Asif Khan, elder brother of Nur Jehan.
