It is situated in the center of the courtyard. The stairway that leads to the "Vadahitina Maligawa" is decorated with moonstones, and carved floral designs. It is two stories high. It was re built by King Wimaladharmasuriya II. And was renovated by King Narendrasinghe in the 18th century. King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe converted the "Vadahitina Maligawa" into a beautiful structure. He is also responsible for the beautiful ivory carvings on the doorways of the shrine
