Islamic answer:

Jesus (called Isaa Ale Salam by Muslims with respect) struggled like all the prophets before him and after him. He tried to guide his people to the right path i.e. to submit to Almighty Allah and Allah alone. He never ever ever said that he is son of God. Only later his teachings were distorted.

Because Jesus was born without father does not mean that he is son of God. This was one of the miracles of Allah. For that matter Adam (called Adam Ale Salam by Muslims with respect) was born without father or mother. That is even bigger miracle from Allah.

Another answer:

"But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? "

And Jesus said, "I Am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven." Mark 14:61-62

Certain books of The Bible (1 Peter, 2 Peter, John etc.) were written by the disciples of Jesus. These were people who were with him daily and whose sole purpose was to learn and live out his teachings.

John 1:1- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... 1:14 - And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,

John 5:17,18 - "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." Therefore the Jews sought to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

John 5:23- that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

John 8:24- "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM He, you will die in your sins."

John 8:58- Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

John 10:30-33 - Jesus answered them, "I and my Father are one." Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?" The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."

John 14:6-7- Jesus said to him, "I AM the way, the truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

John 14:9-11- Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?"

John 20:28- And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"

Acts 4:12- "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

(Acts written by Paul/Saul. He was not a disciple, but met God on the road to Damascus (after death, resurrection and ascension) He is considered to be one of the greatest apostles and is the evidence that no sin is too great for god's forgiveness. )

Jesus was called the Son of God by the following:-

DANIEL:-

Daniel 3

25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

SATAN:-

Matthew 4

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Many references to the son of God are made thoughout the New Testament, by the witers of those books.

More importantly Jesus referred to Himself as the Son of God. Or alluded to such, by referring to God as his Father.

No matter how historical the events portrayed in the gospels, we can never really know the actual words used by Jesus - the gospels were written too long after the event.

The first gospel was Mark's Gospel, written approximately 70 CE. Although written anonymously, it was attributed to Mark later in the second century, when the Church Fathers were trying to establish who probably wrote each of the gospels. Even if the author had been Mark, he could not have known the actual words used by Jesus. In any event, Mark's Gospel does not have Jesus say that he was the Son of God. It does have the demons call Jesus Son of God.

The other early source of sayings attributed to Jesus was the hypothetical 'Q' document. Both the Gospels of Matthew and Luke relied on Mark and Q for their information about Jesus, his mission and what he was believed to have said. Q reports Satan as tempting Jesus in the desert by saying, "If thou be the Son of God ..." Jesus responds indirectly by saying Satan must not tempt God.

John's Gospel goes much further by having Jesus say that he was God himself, and the priests fell backwards in their fury. However, these specific sayings only work in Greek, and Jesus would have spoken Aramaic, a language in which the same sayings would not have made sense.

Arguably, the earlier gospels were careful not to have Jesus make claims that could have been ridiculed, but had Satan, the demons and those around him make the same claims on his behalf. By the second century, when John was written, this was no longer a constraint.

What prophet said Jesus was God?

There were no prophets that ever called Jesus God. God, in most all prophecies, is called God, Ancient of Days, The Almighty, and so forth. Jesus is called Messiah, Chirst, leader, lamb, son of God, ad so forth. Being someones son clearly makes you 'NOT' that one. Even Jesus said that God was greater then him. ( JOHN 14:28 ).

who is son of god?

Jesus!!! Jesus is not God's Son in the sense of a human father and a son. God did not get married and have a son. God did not mate with Mary and, together with her, produce a son. Jesus is God's Son in the sense that He is God made manifest in human form (John 1:1, 14). Jesus is God's Son in that He was conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:35 declares, "The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'"

What was it about Jesus that led the early church to conclude that he was God in human form?

Jesus was not God in human form. Jesus proclaimed himself as SON of God and God is described as Jesus' heavenly father. It is not in my understanding that they ever called Jesus himself God.
