Up until 1500BC all currency was cattle, goats, sheep, etc. The Phoenicians first invented the use of metal money- they made it from iron. To obtain the iron they had to mine for the ore, haematite to extract the iron from it. The Phoenicians mined and imported haematite from around the world and extracted the iron. The excess weight from the iron concentrated on that imparticular position of the earth, slowly, but gradually building up the force, caused the earth to spin slightly faster. The weight had effected the gravitational pull on the earth. Astronomers of the time noticed that the pattern of the positioning of the stars was irregular and came to the strange, but true conclusion that the weight of the iron coins was the cause of this phenomenon. One ancient Phoenician philosopher- Iya Triktyu, came up with the phrase 'money makes the world go round'.
