The notion that the Earth revolves around the Sun had been proposed as early as the 3rd century BC by Aristarchus of Samos. But was not popularly accepted.
Helios was the Greek Sun god, and centric is also of Greek derivation. So the word derives from the Greek, but whether they used the word is not known.
